Do I need a bank account to use PaperSpend?

You don't connect a bank account or share any login credentials. Just upload the PDF statements you already download from your bank or card issuer — PaperSpend never asks for account access.

Which banks and card issuers are supported?

Accepted Answer

Any bank or credit card that gives you a PDF statement. There's no list of supported institutions to check — if you can download the PDF, PaperSpend can read it.

How do you make sure the numbers are actually correct?

Every statement is reconciled before it's imported: your opening balance plus every transaction has to equal the closing balance, exact to the cent. If it doesn't match, the statement is rejected instead of importing bad data.

Will a credit card payment get counted twice?

No. Every transaction is classified as an expense, income, or transfer, and transfers — like a credit card payment showing up on both the checking and card statements — are excluded from your spending totals.

Is my financial data safe?

Your statements are only ever read, never modified, and handled with encryption and industry-standard security practices. We never sell your data or share it with your bank or advertisers — only with the service providers that help us run the service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Yes. The Free plan lets you upload up to 2 statements a month with basic categorization — no credit card required to get started.

Can I export my data or reports?

Yes, on the Plus and Pro plans. You can export your categorized transactions as CSV, Excel or PDF, or as a QuickBooks or Xero file, at any time, so your data is never locked in.

What happens to my data if I cancel or delete my account?

Accepted Answer

Cancelling a paid plan moves you to the free plan, and your statements and transactions stay in your account. If you delete your account, everything is kept for 30 days in case you change your mind, then permanently deleted.
